Hopefully everyone is enjoying their Independence Day weekend and festivities. In the Midwest, we might get rained out but it’s still nice to enjoy the holiday vibe. However, I did want to take a few moments out to tell you about the coming festivities of our own this next week at Stereo Subversion. It’s a big week and there’s plenty to highlight:
Lucinda Williams - One of the most celebrated women in music sat down with us recently to talk all about her career, the projects she’s never quite gotten around to and what she’s most proud of. It’s quite a conversation and the perfect way to start our week.
The Role of the Critic - We’re launching a new series entitled “The Role of the Critic” as four of our staff writers tackle various facets of criticism in the digital age. In other words, how important is music criticism when anyone can start a blog? What should be most important to the critic? We’re excited to offer some answers in this changing Internet climate and we hope you’ll read along. The series starts this week and runs every Wednesday through the month of July.
Margot and the Nuclear So-and-So’s - Staff writer David Cawthon sits down with the band to discuss the latest with the Indianapolis indie act.
Public Enemies - We tell you what we think of the latest from Johnny Depp and Michael Mann
Plus we have the latest reviews from St. Vincent, Bowerbirds, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Dandy Warhols, Cass McCombs, Matthew Sweet and many more.
Have a great rest of your weekend.
-Matt
