		<description>Markets never develop logically - they are intrinsically chaotic. But the beautiful thing about them is that they communicate messages about what&#039;s available and what  people want. That communication process is easier than ever.

The problem with the old disc manufacturing industry is that they are still thinking in terms of shaping demand by controlling availability: release dates, region codes, TV talent shows, new hardware formats, and so on. They could make a lot more profit if they spent less on marketing  and listened to their fans.</description>

If they were going to, they would have to be running their own exclusive digital store, and their own Spotify; instead of relying on profit eating 3rd parties like itunes and amazon.  But having digital services run by the majors would require cooperation between them, and they are unable to act in unison when it comes to anything except suing grandmas and single moms.</description>
