Dead Leaf Echo- Half-Truth

The fact that this song is evocative of several 4AD bands is no mistake. John Fryer mixed the tracks found on Truth, Dead Leaf Echo’s second album. John Fryer, of course is one of the men responsible for the 4AD sound, producer for the Cocteau Twins, and one of the only two constant members of This Mortal Coil. The wash of guitar and dreamy, half mumbled vocals, and some of the chorded melody are familliar but well executed. The result is something that could just as likely have been recorded in shoegaze’s heyday as today.
