Or, the Whale- Rusty Gold

Downloadable • Friday September 18th, 2009 • 1:21 pm

In our recent interview with Or, the Whale, vocalist Alex Robbins informed us, “I would love for people to listen to the record a bunch of times and just allow it to become whatever it is that you want it to become”. An honest statement from a member of a band playing simple, honest music driven by dramatic harmonies and beautiful instrumentation. Or, the Whale have just released their second full-length record on Seany records, and “Rusty Gold” is our first listen to a track from the new album. Three part vocal harmonies float above waves of lap steel that serve to define much of Or, The Whale’s sound, as the band confidently unfolds engaging lyric narrativesĀ  conveyed with solid playing and forceful dynamics. Learn more about this San Francisco based septet in our featured interview, and grab the new record (on vinyl) out now.
