Tealights-Exit

Sometimes, doing this, I get the good fortune of stumbling across new bands with a lot of potential. Tealights is one of those bands. Formed June of last year, they are releasing their first official EP this week. I look forward to hearing more from them.

The lead track, “Exit” starts out a little drone-y and then comes the cello and the dreamy female singer. Throw in a few layers of vocals on the chorus and for accent, get lost in the sustained cello, marvel as the layers build, developing a lazy day melody. The combination of organic and electronic elements along with an emphasis on lyrical vocals provides the song with a richness of the whole being greater than its parts. Listen to it several times and new layers reveal themselves. With an introduction like this, if we don’t hear more from Tealights, I would be surprised.
